The PARTY program for Safe Communities Wood Buffalo

These past few days I’ve been privileged to be a part of Safe Communities Wood Buffalo’s PARTY (Prevent Alcohol and Risk-related Trauma in Youth) program. The program takes place at the Legion and also features a trip to the Northern Lights Health Centre where students see the trauma room and morgue. The day kicks off with a Casualty Simulation feautring local volunteer actors and members of the Fort McMurray Fire Department & Wood Buffalo RCMP. It’s quite a site to see- and seems to be effecting the kids!

Huge thanks to the very talented Ashley Laurenson who’s done a phenomenal job creating special FX make-up for the actors.

Thanks to all the amazing volunteers! If you have Grade nine students in your house- now is a perfect time to remind them of the dangers of impaired driving!!
